History beyond....

One place has its own history beyond it so does Tamu Kianggeh itself. During the ancient times when permanent retail shops or markets were non-existed Bruneians had to go to a village with the largest concentration of the population to buy or sell things. There must have been a few of these places or ‘open-air-market’ scattered around the country and people from smaller villages within the vicinity went there as day-trippers and were therefore regarded as guests.

Before the market was open, the place was only just a river bank which is known as Kianggeh River banks where people in Kampung Ayer used to arrive and leave Bandar Seri Begawan.

They found out that the place is suitable for them to do the business. It is near to the commercial center, to the city and their place of work. More and more people come which make a greater income and profit to local business which comes from four districts and this place become expands until now.
